On the heels of the first trailer, Paramount has released a Hercules clip with new footage.  Hercules (Dwayne Johnson) and his army walk into a trap set by ferocious, painted warriors.  Hercules puts on his lion head, declares he is not afraid, and then . . . the clip cuts away.

John Hurt, Ian McShane, Joseph FiennesPeter Mullan, Rufus Sewell, Robert Maillet, and Irina Shayk also star.  Brett Ratner directed the July 25 release.  Check out our interview with Johnson here and watch the Hercules clip after the jump.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Paramount Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ film HERCULES, starring Dwayne Johnson, bows on July 25th.  Based on Radical Comics’ Hercules by Steve Moore, this ensemble-action film is a revisionist take on the classic myth, HERCULES. The epic action film also stars Golden Globe Winner Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Joseph Fiennes, Peter Mullan and Academy Award®-nominee John Hurt.

Any time I see shots of soldiers marching badly down a hill looking like extras from a school play, I worry. This looks like it will be twice as shit as the conan reboot… Which is impressive.

It looks like it will be worse than the Kellan Lutz’s Hercules. THAT’S impressive. But it has Dwayne Johnson and what looks like some fun cheese CGI monster fights, so I’ll check it out for sure. Besides, the 80’s logo kindda got me hooked too, I have to admit. :P

      • Gary Collins

It looks better than that. I think the Brett Ratner hate is getting people on this movie’s case more than anything.

Yes, Ratner’s flat, TV-like directing is in full effect here.

Seriously, GAME OF THRONES looks more cinematic.

    • Gary Collins

Rush Hour 2 had flat, TV-like Directing?

      • NICK НΛRT

        yep

      • Gary Collins

        No it didn’t.

    • Bob

That’s cause Game of Thrones is one of the greatest shows of all time and better than most movies these days,

      • Hamish

Exactly. Movies need to step up their game.

      • James

No where near hahah. It’s a very good show, but not at all the best of all time.

I consider myself very well versed with the Hercules myths and I had no idea what the Hell was going on in this nonsensical clip. I mean…wow.

    • Gary Collins

      Probably out of context.

I hate when Dwayne screams like a banshee. It’s just not Hercules.

If that’s actually how the movie is cut… this is going to be a train wreck… hoping some good editing is on it’s way and this is just a “trailer” of sorts.
