Chuck star Zachary Levi has nailed down his first big recurring role since that NBC series ended. After a theatrical sojourn in Thor: The Dark World, Levi is now headed to NBC's rebooted property Heroes Reborn for a "key" but as-of-yet undisclosed role.  He'll join returning cast member Chris Coleman as the only confirmed cast member thus far (we can expect more casting announcements in the coming weeks apparently).

Having never seen Heroes, I'll go ahead and speculate that Levi is playing the villain.  I'm probably wrong, but this just seems like a good opportunity to rebrand his squeaky-clean image.  Hit the jump for more on Zachary Levi joining Heroes Reborn.

Levi told TV Line:

“There are a few franchises I’ve always wanted to be a part of, and Heroes is one of them. Chuck gave me the opportunity to wield some fun powers, but an entire world with superpowers is a world I’ve always wanted to explore. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work with Tim [Kring], and the awesome team around him, in bringing this to life.  Moreover, to be working with NBC again is such a reward in itself, as my bonds and relationships there are deep.”

As far as the rest of the cast, you can expect some new and interesting faces there as well . Creator Tim Kring stated a few months ago:

The vast, vast majority are brand new characters, brand new ideas. [Bringing back previous characters is] really only to give a sense of continuity and a tether to the original world. If it was all completely brand new, we’d miss certain elements that need to be there to give you that bridge to cross to something new. I approached Coleman because he was a character who had a spine through the series that allowed you to meet new characters. So he’s a character I wanted to make sure had a little part at the beginning of this thing.

If you missed the Heroes Reborn teaser last year, have a gander:
