We know that Homeland season 5 will involve a two year time jump and feature Carrie (Claire Danes) as a self-imposed exile in Berlin. New locations call for new characters and Showtime just announced four of them. Sebastian Koch, Miranda Otto, Sarah Sokolovic and Alexander Fehling are all joining the show as series regulars. Here's who they're playing:

OTTO DÜRING (Sebastian Koch), a German philanthropist and Carrie's (Danes) boss.

ALLISON CARR (Miranda Otto), the current Berlin Chief of Station, working directly under Saul Berenson (Patinkin).

LAURA SUTTON (Sarah Sokolovic), an American journalist in Berlin who works for the Düring Foundation.

JONAS HAPPICH (Alexander Fehling), legal counsel for the Düring Foundation and Carrie's boyfriend.

According to the press release, Homeland season 5 begins filming tomorrow in Berlin, making it the very first American TV series to shoot a full season in Germany. Homeland also stars Rupert Friend, F. Murray Abraham and Mandy Patinkin, and is set to return to Showtime with 12 new episodes this fall. Here's the official synopsis for the fifth season:

Season five will pick up two years after Carrie Mathison’s (Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe Award winner Claire Danes) ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief.  Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the “war on terror,” Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm.  HOMELAND’s 12-episode season will premiere this fall on SHOWTIME.
