Who even knows what’s going on with that adaptation of The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero over at Lionsgate/Summit anymore?  At this point, the project has been around for years and even though it was reported that Johnny Depp was in talks to take the title role back in May, we haven’t heard a single thing about it since.

If you’re bummed that that Houdini movie likely won’t hit theaters anytime soon, you’re in luck because the Houdini miniseries trailer is here.  Hit the jump to check it out.  The History Channel miniseries stars Adrien Brody as the title character and also features Kristen Connolly and Evan Jones.  It will air over the course of two nights beginning on Monday, September 1st.

No one likes a downer, but I’ve got to admit, I’m not impressed.  There’s nothing wrong with the footage per se, but this is a miniseries about one of the greatest illusionists and stunt performers ever; you’d think that’d lend itself to more remarkable and exhilarating visuals.  But I will give Brody credit where it’s due.  Do you see what he looks like at the 33-second mark?  Master illusionist?  More like a master of fitness.
