Some of the characters Hugh Jackman has played have been a bit rough around the edges, but he’s going full-blown villain in Neill Blomkamp’s latest, Chappie. Vincent was a noble engineer just trying to do his part by creating a massive defense robot called The Moose to help keep the peace in South Africa, but when Deon’s (Dev Patel) smaller, more practical Scout models hit it big, Vincent takes it personally and now he’s willing to do whatever it takes to prove that the world needs The Moose instead.

With Chappie making its way into theaters on March 6th, I got the opportunity to sit down with Jackman to talk about making the film. He highlighted Vincent’s noble intentions, recalled what it was like operating The Moose and wearing the helmet on set, talked about the pros of playing a villain and he also discussed the secrecy surrounding X-Men Apocalypse. Check it all out in the video interview below.

Hugh Jackman:

  • Did Vincent ever have good intentions for The Moose?
  • Did Jackman have any visual cues while controlling The Moose?
  • The pros of playing a villain.
  • On X-Men: Apocalypse.
