While Jennifer Lawrence is now set in the lead role of Katniss in Gary Ross’ adaptation of The Hunger Games, producers are currently looking to fill out the other lead roles in the cast. Apparently Lionsgate is testing a number of actors today for the two male lead roles in the film: Peeta, a boy from Katniss’ town who reveals his love for her as the Hunger Games (life-or-death games played out in the post-apocalyptic future) begin, and Gale, a character who teaches Katniss the “way of the hunter” while she’s in the games herself.

Actors testing for Peeta include the previously mentioned Hunter Parrish (Weeds), Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right) and Evan Peters (Kick-Ass). Testing for Gale are Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song), David Henrie (The Wizards of Waverly Place) among others. Hit the jump to see the full list of actors testing for each part.

Heat Vision reported the rundown of actors testing for each part opposite the 20-year-old Jennifer Lawrence.

Testing for Peeta:

Hunter Parrish – 23 years old (Weeds)

Josh Hutcherson – 18 years old (The Kids Are All Right)

Evan Peters – 24 years old (Kick-Ass)

Alexander Ludwig – 19 years old (Escape to Witch Mountain)

Lukas Till – 20 years old (Battle: LA, X-Men: First Class)

Testing for Gale:

Liam Hemsworth – 21 years old (The Last Song)

David Henrie – 21 years old (The Wizards of Waverly Place)

Robbie Amell – 22 years old (Nickelodeon’s True Jackson, VP)

Drew Roy – 24 years old (Secretariat, Greek)

With a possible franchise looming, this could be a big break for any of these young actors. Those of you that have read Suzanne Collins’ trilogy, who do you think fits the part?

  1. David Henrie is awesome and soooooo talented for this part. I read the books and can envision him in this movie!

  2. Yayyy, another redundant and derivative twilite like series to have to permeate all of pop culture and something we all have to endure, kind of like mass societal water torture. Wait now that sounds like a movie!

  3. Classic, another white only casting. So studios will make an ethnic character white, but god forbid they consider a minority for a role unless its specifically written for one.

Why do all these film blogs, which i actually like, never think to call these studios out on their clear preference for whites and exclusion of minority actors?

  4. David Henrie- i can totally see him as Gale. he’s been around lonnnggg before his justin role, and now he’s the lead in The Assistants. He really is a good actor and hes got a bad boy side to him too, and when he does dramatic roles he really gets into the character. Cant wait to see you in the movie david!!! C’mon! if this isnt hot i dont know what is!!! I wanna see more!

  5. DAVID HENRIE IS THE MOST HANDSOME ACTOR OF OUR TIME…AND ALSO TO MENTION HE IS A VERY TALENTED ACTOR!!!!! YOU GO DAVID!!!

  6. Come on! (lol!)…David Henrie?!? for Gale???. all the “fans” pushing for Henrie must be family or management because there is waay to many people posting for him and really, none of the fans want him even remotely close to the role. Henrie acting opposite Jennifer Lawrence???an OSCAR NOMINATED ACTRESS??? (and gorgeous to boot). Henrie is way too goofy and not good looking enough…GOOD LORD, Lionsgate, PLEASE NO TO HENRIE AS GALE. A world of NO!.

  7. Josh Hutcherson for Peeta! But i really can’t see anyone as being an amazing Peeta because he has a lot of sides to him, but i think Josh might be the only actor on this list who might be able to pull it off. As for Gale, everyone is saying David Henrie. I’m not sure about him, I agree he is a good actor, i just don’t think he will be able to fill Gales shoes,. I will be dissapointed with the movie if they chose Robbie Amell for Gale. Sorry Robbie fans, he just won’t be able to pull it off.
