We’ve got a couple of images from two highly anticipated 2012 releases to share with you today. First up is a brand new image of star Kristen Stewart in this summer’s Snow White and the Huntsman. It’s a close-up, so we don’t get to see too much of her costume, but it’s enough to appease the “KStew” fans out there. I was incredibly impressed by the trailer for the film, which takes a gritty and epic Lord of the Rings-style approach to the Snow White story.

Additionally, we’ve got a new image from The Hunger Games. This is an image that we’ve actually seen before, but this is the first time it’s been released in high quality. We see Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss showcasing her red dress alongside Hunger Games host Caesar Flickman (played by Stanley Tucci). This is the only look we’ve gotten so far of Tucci in character, but judging by this picture I’d say he looks spot on. Hit the jump to check out both images. The Hunger Games hits theaters March 23rd while Snow White and the Huntsman opens June 2nd.

Here’s the official synopsis for Snow White and the Huntsman:

In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her.  But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) who was dispatched to kill her.  Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.

The breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of Alice in Wonderland, producer Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Hunger Games:

Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. THE HUNGER GAMES is directed by Gary Ross, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel, the first in a trilogy published by Scholastic that has over 16 million copies in print in the United States alone, has developed a massive global following.
