Stanley Tucci will play interviewer Caesar Flickerman in Gary Ross' adaptation of The Hunger Games. Here's how the press release describes the role:
Caesar Flickerman is utterly familiar to all the citizens of Panem as the host of the Hunger Games. Known for his outrageous appearance and buoyant personality, his upbeat interviews of the 24 tributes – a boy and a girl from each of the country’s 12 districts – are presented on every television in the nation. He is famous for turning any conversation around to the positive and finding humor in even the most dire circumstances.
It sounds like Tucci is playing the well-worn smarmy announcer character we've seen time and time again. However, I do take comfort in the fact that a talented actor like Tucci has taken the role and will likely bring something new to it. Hit the jump for the full press release. About The Film
Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games.
