This week is a big one in the world of cinema. That’s because two of the biggest film festival’s of the year start up in a few days….Slamdance and Sundance. While Sundance has become a place for big stars and big films, Slamdance has always been the place for indie cinema. Yes Slamdance still gets the big stars…but it’s not the same. Slamdance feels to me the way Sundance must have been years ago. Before the corporate sponsors. Before all the gifting and swag.

Anyway, opening this year’s Slamdance festival is writer/director Glenn McQuaid’s movie “I Sell the Dead”. The film stars Dominic Monaghan, Ron Perlman, Larry Fessenden and Brenda Cooney and it’s about grave robber’s in the 18th Century. Here’s the synopsis:

18th century justice has finally caught up with grave robbers Arthur Blake and Willie Grimes. With the specter of the guillotine looming over him, young Blake confesses to a priest, Father Duffy, about his fifteen years of adventure in the resurrection trade; from his humble beginnings as a young boy stealing trinkets from corpses, to his partnership with seasoned ghoul Willie Grimes hunting creatures unwilling to accept their place in the ground. The colorful and peculiar history of Grimes and Blake is one filled with adventure, horror, and vicious professional competition that ends where it begins -- the grave.

So to help promote the film, we’ve been given two clips from the movie and the trailer. Take a look! Also, I’ll be doing interviews with a lot of the people involved in the film, so look for those sometime next week. Until then….
