With the abundance of “Lord of the Rings” fans, whenever anything related to “The Hobbit” happens, it’ll be online five minutes later. So when Ian McKellen stopped by at a special screening of “Lord of the Rings” last night in London, it’s no surprise everything he said is now online. The big news is he knows who is going to play Bilbo, filming begins in March on TWO movies, and he’s getting the script next week! More after the jump:
Here’s part of what TheOneRing.net reported:
“Currently at the all night screening at the bfi IMAX, London of LOTR. Ian McKellen dropped by earlier and revealed he is currently re-reading the hobbit and is expecting to be back in New Zealand in March. Apparently he also knows who they’re getting to play Bilbo & that he should be seeing the script within the next week.”
This makes a lot of sense as the first “Hobbit” movie is scheduled for release in December of 2011 and they obviously have to start filming soon to make that release date. Also, remember they have already started rebuilding Hobbiton.
And thanks to the magic of camera phones, if you click this link, you can watch part of what Ian said! In the video you can hear Ian say filming starts in March and goes on for a year on TWO movies. (via OneRing)
And regarding who will play Bilbo…while everyone is speculating who will get cast, I have so much faith in both Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro, whoever they chose to play the part is fine with me. With filming set to begin in March, I’d imagine we’re all going to find out within the next month or two as word is going to leak when whatever actor starts to travel back and forth to New Zealand or an agents assistant tells a friend. The news is way too big to keep hidden.
More info as we get it.
