In a savvy move by Fox, the studio is doing a sneak preview of “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinoasurs” this Sunday for the Father’s Day crowd. It will play one showing at 330 theatres across the country and only in 3D. It’s a smart move because it’s the one chance Fox has to get out in front of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and start building some word of mouth. Furthermore, it’s a strong grab at the family crowd and while “Transformers” is PG-13 and will certainly get some families as well, it’s clear that Fox is trying to direct “Ice Age” at families with younger children and kids that hate Autobots.
