After marathoning my way through the second season of "The Wire", I was once again dumbstruck at not only the handsomeness of Idris Elba but that he's a phenomenal actor who hasn't been featured in more films. The man is astoundingly talented and needed to be a leading man in major motions pictures yesterday. Hopefully, Elba's rise to stardom will begin soon both with his recurring role on "The Office" (his line "I'm aware of the effect I have on women," absolutely stole last week's episode) and his current negotiations to join the adaptation of DC/Vertigo's "The Losers" which follows a betrayed black-ops group that decides to take revenge on the government.

As for Saldana, roles in two of the year's biggest films ("Star Trek" and "Avatar") probably means that she'll be on the A-list by 2010 so it's smart to get her on board now before either of those films open and her asking price goes up to 50 bajillion dollars (in this economy, "bajillion" is now a real number).

Warner Bros. wants both actors to play couple of bad-asses as The Hollywood Reporter describes them both thusly, "Elba will play a character named Roque, the group's scarred second-in-command who is motivated by money. Saldana will be Aisha, a cold-blooded loose cannon." Sounds good to me. Bring on the attractive, talented actors in the comic book movie!
