YA adaptations are all the rage at the moment, especially with the buzzworthy The Fault in Our Stars opening this weekend, and Warner Bros. is getting in on the fun by releasing an If I Stay prologue trailer for director R.J. Cutler’s adaptation of the Gayle Forman novel. The film stars Chloe Grace Moretz as a young girl facing a tough decision between pursuing her musical dreams at Julliard or staying close to home with the love of her life (Jamie Blackley). Circumstances are further complicated when a life-changing accident throws her life off completely off balance. This “prologue” is essentially a new trailer with M83 adding a fair amount of emotional oomph to the proceedings. Moretz is a talented actress and the premise gives her a lot to work with, so I’m interested to see how this one shapes up.
Hit the jump to watch the new If I Stay prologue trailer. The film also stars Mireille Enos, Joshua Leonard, Liana Liberato, Aisha Hinds, and Stacy Keach. If I Stay opens in theaters August 22nd.
Here’s the official synopsis for If I Stay:
Mia Hall (Chloë Grace Moretz) thought the hardest decision she would ever face would be whether to pursue her musical dreams at Juilliard or follow a different path to be with the love of her life, Adam (Jamie Blackley). But what should have been a carefree family drive changes everything in an instant, and now her own life hangs in the balance. Caught between life and death for one revealing day, Mia has only one decision left, which will not only decide her future but her ultimate fate. “If I Stay” is based on the best-selling novel of the same name.
