Earlier today I got to visit Universal Studios in Hollywood as the studio was finally opening the new New York Street backlot after the June 2008 fire. In attendance at today’s ceremonies were Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steven Spielberg, Universal Studios President Ron Meyer, L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Chief Deputy Daryl Osby, Ret. Fire Chief Doug Barry, and a number of other actors and Universal Studios representatives.
While I already posted the video of the entire press conference with Schwarzenegger, Spielberg, Meyer and a few other speakers, I was also able to take the new tram tour of the backlot and I decided to video tape the entire thing. So if you’d like to see what the backlot really looks like, hit the jump to watch the video. I’ve also been provided a ton of high res images of the new backlot. I’m pretty sure a lot of filming is about to happen on this location…
one note before watching the video…I had a slight audio issue about a minute in and I cut about a minute out. There is more to the tour than just this video. But you’ll get the idea is you watch it. Also, I recorded this without a tripod. And if you’d like to see someone very famous…it’s time index 3:50
