3rd Trailer for Tarsem Singh’s IMMORTALS

     August 16, 2011

Relativity Media has released yet another trailer for Tarsem Singh’s Immortals and I’m starting to seriously doubt the film.  I liked what I saw when the teaser trailer debuted at WonderCon, but every trailer looks the same.  It’s the same footage again and again just in a different order.  Also, the plot is that King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) wants to bring down the gods so the gods hire Theseus (Henry Cavill) to stop him.  None of the trailers explain why the gods can’t do this themselves.  It’s kind of an obvious question and no amount of speed-ramping can answer it.

Hit the jump to check out the new trailer.  Immortals opens in 3D on November 11th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Immortals:

Visionary director Tarsem Singh (The Cell, The Fall) and producers Gianni Nunnari (300), Mark Canton (300) and Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter) unleash an epic tale of treachery, vengeance and destiny in Immortals, a stylish and spectacular 3-D adventure. As a power-mad king razes ancient Greece in search of a legendary weapon, a heroic young villager rises up against him in a thrilling quest as timeless as it is powerful. The brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his murderous Heraklion army are rampaging across Greece in search of the long lost Bow of Epirus. With the invincible Bow, the king will be able to overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of his world. With ruthless efficiency, Hyperion and his legions destroy everything in their wake, and it seems nothing will stop the evil king’s mission. As village after village is obliterated, a stonemason named Theseus (Henry Cavill) vows to avenge the death of his mother in one of Hyperion’s raids. When Theseus meets the Sybelline Oracle, Phaedra (Freida Pinto), her disturbing visions of the young man’s future convince her that he is the key to stopping the destruction. With her help, Theseus assembles a small band of followers and embraces his destiny in a final desperate battle for the future of humanity.

This is the best trailer…they should have just had the teaser trailer and then this trailer, having three trailers does seem too much.

but the movie will be better then this i hope!

  • LP

Yeah, that was a good trailer. Selling the epic and promising good action without revealing much of the story.

Why do they keep using Cavill’s speech when they know it causes the audience to laugh at his horrible acting? They know by now that people burst out laughing. The first part of the trailer contains no dialogue from Cavill, and that is the best part! They should have kept it that way!

Tarsem Singh’s films are amazing to look at.
Hanry Cavill’s done well for himself.

While I’m always up for a good War-in-Heaven flick, the costumes are ALMOST as bad as the ones used in the SYFY channel version of Dune (just Dune, not the second movie syfy did that was a compilation of Dune Messiah and Children of Dune – they improved the costumes a great deal for it).

The trailer was good but not that great.

Still it shows a good story and awesome action scenes.

This might be a sleeper hit.

I’m thinking this movie is better than we all expected. I’ve been a huge fan of Tarsem’s for quiet some time now. Ever since ‘The Cell’, the man has had my heart. Found this great review on the film today. Honestly I was shocked because I had no idea the studios were doing screenings of the movie but none the less was stoked to hear about. He had nothing but rave reviews for the film. Check it out below if you’re interested. I’m so freaking excited!!!

Josie, don’t get your scrunchies in a bunch over there. If more reviews like this come out, I’ll hop on that bandwagon, but till then, I think I’ll hold myself back from getting crazy about it. -undecided but glad it’s not going to be as terrible as people talked about earlier.
