The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier is on the short list to lens on Marvel’s highly-anticiapted super-hero team-up movie The Avengers. According to  Aint It Cool News, Leterrier is in the running to direct but at the “bottom of the short list”. Here’s what Leterrier said to AICN:

“I am on the shortlist, but I’m at the bottom of the shortlist, I’m sure. (Laughs) I don’t know who the other guys are, but I have a great relationship with [Marvel], and I’ve been very vocal to them and everyone else that I am the one to direct it. I loved my time at Marvel. I loved those guys. They’re fantastic. [Marvel Studios President of Production] Kevin [Feige] is such a passionate boss; he gets his hands dirty. It’s a universe I want to keep exploring. I was frustrated with [The Incredible Hulk]. It was like, “That’s it? Only one superhero? Can I do more???” We’ll see. Time will tell.”

Leterrier has consistently demonstrated that he can put together fun action movies. The Incredible Hulk may not have had the box office success Marvel wanted ($134 million domestic off a production budget of $150 million), but it was still a quality entry into Marvel’s movie continuity. Still, part of me feels like an uber director should helm Marvel’s premiere superhero team. The Avengers are set to assemble on May 4, 2012  with Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and the yet-to-be-named actor for Captain America. Leterrier’s new movie, the remake of Clash of the Titans, hits theaters in 3D on April 2nd.

I think he is a good action director but they need someone that cares about story.

Leterrier did an awesome job on the Hulk REBOOT and has a serious passion for the material. If he's not chosen for The Avengers, I'd be surprised. He's has my support 100%!

The Hulk reboot sucked!!!! The CGI was crap! IMHO of course.
But I'm curious as to who will get Thor. That would seem to be a complicated casting process.
But in the end I think they will fuck this all up. It ain't going to work out. Them studio dooosh bags don't know comics. Only dollar and cents. There is no way in hell they'll be able to do a cohesive story with all them heros. Can't. The studios are thinking marketing and opening weekend. The avengers will be some jacked up happy meal movie.
    So it begins.
