The sci-fi comedy genre is one that’s incredibly tricky to pull off, but director Justin Reardon will certainly give it his best shot with the upcoming Convention.  We already knew that Ben Kingsley, Jennifer Aniston, and Mark Duplass were set to star in the film, but K5 International made it official today with a press release that also includes an intriguing full synopsis for the pic.  The story centers around a box convention, at which an intrepid inventor (Duplass) premieres his creation: a five-sided box.  His revolutionary design seems destined to turn the world of folded boxes on its end until he learns that his production process alters the space-time continuum.

Kingsley is set to play a “maniacal box magnate” appropriately named Bobby Schroedinger (I see what you did there), and Reardon just recently wrapped his debut feature, A Many Splintered Thing starring Chris Evans and Michelle Monaghan.  Hit the jump to read the full synopsis for Convention.  Production will get underway this summer.

In addition to recent comments regarding the seriousness of Iron Man 3, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also had plenty more to say about the film.  Speaking to Empire Magazine about Iron Man 3‘s relationship to The Avengers, Feige says the end of that movie has shaken Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) confidence.  “By the end of Avengers, when a portal is opened up in Manhattan and he’s met Thor and The Hulk and the Chitauri are coming down on him,” says Feige, “he realizes that he doesn’t know everything; we think that has had an effect on his psyche, and then his world is blown out from underneath him.”

Hit the jump for what Feige had to say about any cameos in Iron Man 3, adapting the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), why Rhodey (Don Cheadle) is wearing the Iron Patriot armor, and more.  Iron Man 3 opens in 3D on May 3, 2013.

Things have been a bit quite on the Ender’s Game front recently, but Summit Entertainment has revealed the full synopsis for the film. Fans of the Orson Scott Card classic will find nothing new here, but those of you who are unfamiliar with the story might find the synopsis surprisingly spoilery. There are no major reveals ruined, but it does give a way more than is necessary as to the progression of title character Ender Wiggin’s promotions in the Battle School.

Starring Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, Sir Ben Kingsley, Hailee Steinfeld, Viola Davis and Abigail Breslin, writer/director Gavin Hood’s Ender’s Game will open in theaters November 1st, 2013.  Hit the jump to read the new synopsis but beware spoilers

Marvel movie fans know what they’re getting from Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Iron Man; what we don’t yet know is what to expect from Sir Ben Kingsley’s performance as the villainous Mandarin in Shane Black’s Iron Man 3.  When the new trailer debuted, audiences were split on Kingsley’s choice of accent, comparing it to the affected tones of Tom Hardy’s Bane in the recent superhero smash, The Dark Knight Rises. Marvel Studio’s president and producer on Iron Man 3, Kevin Feige, previously commented on what the film’s version of the Mandarin would be like compared to the comics.  Now, Feige talks about Kingsley’s performance of the infamous character and how he managed something that’s never been done on a Marvel movie set before.

Also starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall and Jon Favreau, Iron Man 3 opens May 3rd, 2013.  Hit the jump for more.

By now you’ve surely seen the first trailer for director Shane Black’s Iron Man 3, starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Sir Ben Kingsley.  You might have even glanced at the collection of images we pulled from said trailer to get a closer look at the images hidden within.  Now, we’re going to take those images and speculate as to what they might mean for the plot.  What’s up with War Machine’s paint job? Why is Iron Man all up in people’s faces and being a sleep creep?  Why does an over-sized bunny appear to have an arc-reactor?  What’s the deal with the Mandarin’s rings? Marvel’s Kevin Feige has some insight to share on that last question.  Hit the jump to see the answers.

Iron Man 3, also starring Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce and Rebecca Hall, opens in 3D on May 3rd, 2013.

The first trailer for Shane Black‘s Iron Man 3 dropped earlier today, and it’s pretty great.  The big take away is that this looks to be a surprisingly dark entry into the series, especially for the wise-cracking Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.).  But there are also some cool details in the trailer you may have missed.   What’s with the tattoo on the back of the Mandarin’s neck?  What happened to poor Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau)?  Who is Iron Patriot beating up on?  There are also plenty of cool images that prove Black, even though he only directed one movie before this one (albeit an excellent one), knows how to shoot action.

The first trailer for director Shane Black‘s Iron Man 3 has been released and it’s looking a lot darker for Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) this time around. Following the events of The AvengersStark is a bit more shaken up than one would have expected.  His nightmares plague him with sleepless nights and constant fear that harm will befall the people he cares about.  And it’s looking like his greatest technological achievement will become his biggest threat.  At least until the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) makes his appearance in grand fashion (though I’m not 100% sold on his accent).

Full Synopsis for IRON MAN 3 Teases Revenge and Answered Questions

We were recently treated to an official synopsis for Marvel’s upcoming sequel Thor: The Dark World that shed a light on the story of the godly follow-up, and now the studio has released a full synopsis for Iron Man 3.  Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously noted that the third entry in the Iron Man franchise would metaphorically get Tony Stark “back to the cave,” in a place where he’s stripped of everything and left with only his intelligence to fight his way back.  This synopsis teases just that, as Stark finds himself on a sort of revenge mission after his “personal world is destroyed” by his enemy (Ben Kingsley’s The Mandarin).  The synopsis also promises an answer to a question that’s central to Stark’s character: does the suit make the man or does the man make the suit?

Ben Kingsley Circling MARY MOTHER OF CHRIST

Usually when I say Mary Mother of Christit’s due to a bout with Tourette’s or just after smashing my thumb with a hammer.  In this case, the film is actually a prequel of sorts to Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ. The Alister Grierson-directed picture has reportedly interested Sir Ben Kingsley, who is eyeing the role of King Herod.  The story involves Mary’s impassioned defiance of the King in order to save her son, Jesus.  Mary Mother of Christ was written by Barbara Nicolosi and Benedict Fitzgerald, who co-wrote The Passion of the Christ with Gibson.  Hit the jump for more on this picture.

For a project that has the epic scope of Ender’s Game, it’s only fitting that the film be released in IMAX.  Fans can look forward to seeing the adaptation of the beloved Orson Scott Card novel in IMAX format when it debuts in theaters November 1st, 2013.  The sci-fi film from director Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) follows Andrew “Ender” Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a boy trained at a military battle school in the hopes that he’ll develop a strategy to defeat the alien menace known as the Formics.  This will make two big features for Lionsgate being released in the same month (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire releases November 22nd), two properties the studio hopes will continue to bear box-office fruit.  But before Catching Fire can sweep Ender’s Game aside, the sci-fi film will have three weeks to build up a big payday and, hopefully, a bigger following.  Hit the jump for more updates on Ender’s Game from the film’s production blog.

IRON MAN 3 Aerial Stunt Caught on Tape

While Comic-Con is busy bringing all sorts of comic-book marketing to the masses, the stunt folk are busy working hard on the set of Iron Man 3. Filming in North Carolina, an aerial stunt sequence was recently captured by the local news crew.  The footage may be somewhat spoilery only because it alludes to what is certain to be some sort of disaster/rescue sequence, but it also lacks any finished effects or context.  Make of it what you will.

Iron Man 3, directed by Shane Black and starring Robert Downey Jr., Ben Kingsley, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Rebecca Hall,  Ashley Hamilton, and Guy Pearce opens May 3, 2013.  Hit the jump to check out the footage.
