As part of the ongoing viral campaign for The Amazing Spider-Man, two new clips have surfaced: one features Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors recruiting interns for Oscorp Industries while the other is a behind-the-scenes with Ifans and director Marc Webb. The second video might interest fans a bit more since the duo talk about Doc Connors/The Lizard and even show some nice shots of Ifans’ Jekyll and Hyde transformation.  Expect much more from The Amazing Spider-Man over the next couple of months, like this recent pic Tweeted by Webb.  Click here to check out Tobey Maguire’s interview with star Andrew Garfield, and click here for the new trailer. A new trailer for director Marc Webb‘s The Amazing Spider-Man has gone online.  Compared to the first trailer, we get a much better idea of what the plot/driving force for Peter Parker entails, there’s quite a bit more action, and we get some great looks at The Lizard.  Given that the release is a couple of months away, we’re finally starting to see some of the finished visual effects shots come in, and they actually look kind of great.  The webslinging has an edge to it and The Lizard has much more texture.  I like Andrew Garfield a whole lot, and the biggest draw for me here is the character work between Garfield and Emma Stone.  They look to have some great chemistry and Garfield brings out a dickish side of Peter Parker that we didn’t really see in Sam Raimi‘s trilogy.  Overall, I’m pretty encouraged by this new clip and I’m hoping the full film delivers.

The superheroic summer season kickstarts with The Avengers this weekend, but other heroes are vying for attention.  The Dark Knight Rises put a bat-dent in The Avengers headlines by dropping an incredible trailer late last night and now The Amazing Spider-Man is hoping to snare some looks with two new posters.  We’ve recently posted clips, an international trailer, other posters and a couple sets of new images, but these new posters have an additional wrinkle: they both feature a suited-up Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) with extensive battle damage to his costume. I wonder who could have done that…

While Marvel’s current focus is on the upcoming superhero assembly film, The Avengers, they haven’t lost sight of their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.  The one-two punch of The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man will certainly go a few rounds before DC’s The Dark Knight Rises lands the knockout blow later this summer.  In the meantime, you can take a break from all of our Avengers coverage and take a look at this new international trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, which features new footage, including an extended fight sequence and some nice, quieter moments of Peter Parker both with his Aunt May and his girlfriend, Gwen Stacy. Perhaps you’ve heard of Sony’s reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. We’ve brought you a ton of coverage over the last few months (the new trailer, over 25 new images, the beginning of the viral campaign, the first clip and a gallery of all the images released thus far), but with the film opening between this weekend’s WonderCon and mid-July’s Comic-Con, the best is yet to come. Sony was kind enough to share some footage from Marc Webb’s gritty take on Peter Parker’s origin story and we, being equally kind, are here to share it with you. News outlets got a chance to see the newest trailer and a sizzle reel a short while ago, and this time Sony shared it with the audience at WonderCon.

The viral campaign for Marc Webb‘s The Amazing Spider-Man continues onward.  The previous viral website, “Mark of the Spider-Man”, recently posted a fake news segment of NYPD Captain Stacy (Denis Leary) speaking to Daily Bugle TV.  Sadly, Daily Bugle Editor-in-Chief J. Jonah Jameson isn’t in the reboot, but Stacy preaches from the same book when he says, “What kind of hero wears a mask?”  The video has Stacy telling viewers a hotline they can call if they see Spider-Man.  The number is 877-651-8503, but it will just tell you to go to the website webbedmenace.com, which is where people can go and upload pictures of Spider-Man.

A new trailer for the fourth installment in the Ice Age franchise, Ice Age: Continental Drift, has gone online. In this adventure, Scrat accidentally triggers the breakup of Pangea and thus the splitting of the continents while pursuing that ever-elusive acorn (seriously, there are other acorns in the world, Scrat). This trailer highlights this entry’s newest inhabitants: the Gigantopithecus (an extinct genus of ape). I’m not the biggest fan of the series, but kids seem to love it and the movies make a great deal of money at the box office so I guess there’s an audience for the fourth entry.

In case you missed the sneak-preview of footage from Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man, you’re in luck! We’ve recapped it for you here along with images from the film thus far. But what you really came here for is the new trailer, which is much better than the previous one, which started by highlighting a young Peter Parker and finished with a “Mirror’s Edge” style parkour run over the rooftops from Spidey’s perspective. We get a nice look at the budding relationship of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy as well as the friction building between Parker/Spider-Man and George Stacy. You’ve got web-slinging, a nod to Parker’s genius through his high-tech gadgets and chalkboard equations and glimpses of Ifans as The Lizard! Much more encouraging.

Let me start by saying that I have not seen the entirety of the Ice Age movies.  I have seen small parts at a time but this was my first full experience with these characters.  I watched it with my 4-year old daughter as well, so I can offer some of her perspective (if it seems more mature than mine, I am sure it is simply an error in reading skills).

It had been a long time since I had seen a “new” animated Christmas special.  My daughter and I regularly watched animated holiday videos this season like Charlie Brown, Rudolph, and Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas (which I believe still holds up). Unless you’re lucky enough to attend a sneak-peek screening of footage from The Amazing Spider-Man, you’ll have to wait another five months until the movie comes out. A lot of promotional material has been released for Marc Webb’s installment in the Spider-Man movie franchise. There was the original trailer last year, a related video game trailer and tons of images.  We’re expecting a new trailer and perhaps some viral marketing to kick in this week following the limited preview, so we thought we’d do a recap on the images we’ve collected so far. As the barrage of marketing materials from the 2012 movie season continues, we’ve got a couple of new images from Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man. We’ve seen a few of these images before and a couple are new, but all are high quality. The new images here really emphasize the teenage aspect of Webb’s take, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the (500) Days of Summer director handles the character-driven scenes. I was impressed with the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in the footage we saw at Comic-Con, and I’m hoping that permeates throughout the film.

The official website for The Amazing Spider-Man has gone online.  The site provides plenty of goodies, which come on the heels of the new teaser poster.  On the website, you’ll find the official synopsis, character bios, and some desktop wallpapers.

Denis Leary and his Rescue Me co-producer Jim Serpico are trying to raise funds for Tom Putnam and Brenna Sanchez‘s documentary Burn.  According to Deadline, the film centers on Detroit firefighters who struggle “with the task of saving a city many have written off.”  Leary and Serpico are trying to finish financing the movie through the crowd-funding website Kickstarter and “are offering products and experiences to entice Kickstarter donors, including a Boardwalk Empire set visit and an autographed helmet signed by the Rescue Me cast.”  The filmmakers hope to release the film into the 2012 festival season to help raise public awareness about the work and sacrifice of firefighters in these times of sever budget cuts to basic services a developed country expects.

GM and Apple have provided grants to the production and “a portion of the film’s proceeds will go The Leary Firefighters Foundation to purchase equipment for the Detroit Fire Department.”  Click here to go fund the website.  Firefighters do one of the most dangerous and essential jobs and they deserve our support.

After seven seasons, the FX drama Rescue Me comes to a close with its series finale on September 7^th.  While showcasing all of the emotional ups and downs for the characters on the series, it always made a point to shine a light on the truly noble, life-and-death work that the firefighters of the FDNY do, on a daily basis.

At the FX portion of the TCA Press Tour, actor Denis Leary took some time to reflect on his time on the series and playing a role as complex and layered as Tommy Gavin. He also talked about stepping into the shoes of Captain George Stacy, father of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) in The Amazing Spider-Man, he much he enjoyed working with his young co-stars, revealed that he will not have the walking stick that his character uses in the comics, and confirmed that he is signed on for the second and third film as well (The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was given a release date yesterday). Today FX announced the summer premiere dates for the all new seasons of Rescue Me starring Denis Leary and Louie, starring the hilarious comedian Louis C.K. In addition, the series premiere of the new comedy Wilfred starring Elijah Wood has also been revealed. On June 23rd, Wilfred will premiere its 13-episode first season at 10/9c followed closely by Louie at 10:30/9:30c which will have a 13-episode second season run. If you haven’t seen the trailer for the Elijah Wood comedy, you can check it out here. I know I’ll be tuning in. As for Louie, the first season was spectacular, and I can’t wait for more. But if straight-up comedy isn’t your bag, FX will bring back their long-running series Rescue Me for its seventh and final season starting on July 12th at 10/9c. Should be a great summer on FX.
