Riley Anderson is the setting and the vehicle for Pixar’s Inside Out, but she’s not really the protagonist. The film is driven by her emotions—Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. The movie cuts between how those emotions direct Riley, how Riley reacts, and the interplay between the two. Of course, no one in the world of the film can see those emotions except the audience.

So fan Jordan Hanzon tried a little experiment based on a idea by "Rickroy37" and cut out the emotions to keep the focus solely on Riley. There’s the awkward jumps you’d expect since there are no scenes of the emotions to bridge the gaps, but it’s still not so bad. And while you can definitely feel the absence of the five emotions and everything else that takes place inside Riley's head, it’s fascinating to see how the film plays without it, especially when Riley starts crying in class or fights with her family at the dinner table.
