Who’s ready for another trip into The Further? Insidious: Chapter 3 will take place prior to the events of the first film and will focus on what happens when Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly contacts the dead to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott). Interested in seeing where this next batch of demonic mayhem goes down? We just got a bunch of behind-the-scene images revealing key locations as well as a sense of the look Leigh Whannell is striving for in his feature directorial debut.
Hit the jump to check out the new Insidious: Chapter 3 images including shots of Shaye, Scott and Dermot Mulroney. The franchise’s third installment is due in theaters on May 29, 2015 and will see the return of Whannell’s Specs and Angus Sampson’s Tucker.
There are a couple of details worth highlighting. The house in the third image is the exterior of Elise’s house. Also, how about that set design for Scott’s room? There’s nothing more festive than Christmas lights, but they look a bit threatening and thorn-like wrapped around that iron headboard. And did you catch the bell sitting on the dresser beside her bed? I’d like to bet that’s there for a reason. It’s also worth noting that Insidious: Chapter 3 can’t take place too many years prior to Insidious because that’s a rather modern looking cell phone and laptop right there.
The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. This chilling prequel, set before the haunting of the Lambert family, reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.
