With Ryan Reynolds Buried getting released next month, Icon Film Distribution in the UK have released a new international poster for the movie. If you saw some of the previous posters, the new one is quite similar, except instead of black above the coffin the poster shows the dirt. Also, they’ve added some words above Reynolds. Check it out after the jump:
If you haven’t heard of Buried, it was directed by Rodrigo Cortes and it premiered at this year’s Sundance to rave reviews. Here’s the synopsis:
Open your eyes. You’re in a closed space beneath 2500 pounds of soil. You have 90 minutes of oxygen left to breathe. Your only connection to the outside world is a mysterious cell phone with limited reception and battery life. And each second is a second closer to death…
Paul Conroy is not ready to die. But when he wakes up 6 feet underground with no idea of who put him there or why, life for the truck driver and family man instantly becomes a hellish struggle for survival. Buried with only a cell phone and a lighter, his contact with the outside world and ability to piece together clues that could help him discover his location are maddeningly limited. Poor reception, a rapidly draining battery and a dwindling oxygen supply become his worst enemies in a tightly confined race against time— fighting panic, despair and delirium, Paul has only 90 minutes to be rescued
While you may wonder how can anyone make a film about someone trapped in a coffin for five minutes…let alone ninety minutes, not only does Cortes deliver the goods, it’s an awesome movie. From the opening title credits to the music and Ryan Reynolds dazzling performance, Buried is a great movie made for almost no money. Trust me, this is a film people will be talking about. It really shows what Reynolds can do as an actor and I was very impressed his performance.
Buried opens in select theaters September 24th and nationwide October 8th.
