Yesterday, we saw six new Interstellar images, and today we have six more. The movie stars Matthew McConaughey and involves a team of explorers who come across a wormhole to “surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.” These images come from Empire’s iPad edition, and remind us that McConaughey and Anne Hathaway‘s characters aren’t the only astronauts in the movie.
Hit the jump to check out the Interstellar images and learn about the movie’s runtime. The film opens in 2D and IMAX on November 7th, and also stars Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, Michael Caine, David Oyelowo, Wes Bentley, John Lithgow, Ellen Burstyn, Topher Grace, David Gyasi, Mackenzie Foy, Bill Irwin, Timothée Chalamet and Matt Damon.
The Film Stage is reporting that the movie is 169 minutes long, which makes it the longest one yet for director Christopher Nolan. The previous record holder was The Dark Knight Rises, which ran 165 minutes. Hopefully, Nolan’s new flick will be a smoother ride than Batman’s last outing.
At the Comic-Con panel for Interstellar, Nolan mentioned Stanley Kubrick‘s 2001: A Space Odyssey as an inspiration. Kubrick’s movie runs at only 160 minutes. Take that, legend of cinema.
Here’s the official synopsis for Interstellar:
With our time on Earth coming to an end, a team of explorers undertakes the most important mission in human history; traveling beyond this galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars.
