The CW's "Heroes v Aliens" crossover Invasion! is now completed, with all of the chapters in the event scoring high ratings for the network. Now that it's all finished, there are a few secrets from Executive Producers Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg that should be uncovered, as well as some talk as to what's coming in the future for the time-traveling characters of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

Was there ever a temptation to bring in Lynda Carter as Earth-1's President at the conclusion of "Invasion!" as another-Earth counterpart to the character she plays on Supergirl?

Yes. "In the original draft of the Legends episode, she was the Vice President who became the President and the studio had what we all considered to be a very fair note, which is, it was a bit too confusing," Marc Guggenheim confirmed. "You get into the parallel Earths of it all, but she's not the President on our Earth, she's the Vice President and in the midst of time travel and aliens it just was, as Oliver would put it, 'one sci-fi problem too much,' so we thought OK, if the studio is getting thrown by it, and confused, the audience might be too, so we took her out. Believe me, it was not for lack of wanting to... I was planning on being on set that day," he laughed.

Do the people of Earth-1 know that there were aliens among us?

Originally, there was a line from the "Man in Black" type character that the producers nicknamed "Glasses" where he says "Cover up what? A dozen weather satellites falling out of orbit?"

"People see the ships, but no one ever really saw the Dominators," Guggenheim explained. "The way we're sort of playing it going forward is that Glasses is good at his job, and when he says he's going to cover it up, he's going to cover it up." Kreisberg added that there is a mention of the alien invasion on The Flash, where "the threat of aliens brought out the crazies" is said, but in the end, "we're sort of Doctor Who-ing it."

Don't expect a DEO on Earth-1 anytime soon.

It doesn't sound like an Earth-1 equivalent of the Department of Extra-Normal Operations is on the agenda. "I think what’s so nice about the shows, for us, is each of the shows has their own identity," Andrew Kreisberg said. "Especially this season, it feels like every show has sort of doubled down on what it’s about. With Arrow, we’ve really returned to the sort of gritty crime drama that it originally was and there’s so many echoes in this season to the earlier seasons. Flash has the metahumans, Legends have time traveling, Supergirl has doubled down on the alien aspect. I think that’s what makes the shows feel different, so you’re not watching four hours of the same stuff every week. You’re really getting a different flavor and different world."

"Whereas now that possibility is open because they’ve faced aliens, there are certainly no plans to have an ongoing or bring up an alien storyline on Arrow," Kreisberg confirmed. "That really feels like the purview of Supergirl. I will say though this is not the last you’ve seen on the Dominators. The Dominators will return on Supergirl later this season," he revealed.

What will the Legends of Tomorrow take away from the crossover?

"I think the two big takeaways are obviously Stein's daughter (Lilly, played by Christina Bruncato) – we haven't seen the last of her," Guggenheim promised. "You'll see her again in a few episodes – as well as Ray's got his suit back, and he's, I think, very, very happy to be a superhero again."

And yes, that "cousin" line, where Brandon Routh's Ray Palmer comments that Kara/Supergirl looks like his cousin, was indeed a reference to Routh's previous role as Superman in Superman Returns.

"Last year on Legends we had the prison break episode, and I said to the writers, 'If we don’t make a Prison Break joke here with Wentworth [Miller], we’re not doing our jobs.' Here, I was like, 'If we have Brandon and Melissa [Benoist] share the screen and we don’t make some sort of joke like that, we’re not doing our jobs'," Guggenheim explained. "The truth is, that joke existed on Arrow originally and then a certain scene got cut so then I moved it over to Legends; I just kept moving it back and forth. I was like, 'I’m getting it in one of these episodes!'"

The winter finale of DC's Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursday, December 8th on The CW.
