Iron Man 2 screenwriter Justin Theroux recently confirmed that there would be an easter egg following the credits of the film just like the Samuel L. Jackson/Nick Fury cameo after the credits of the first Iron Man. Said Theroux:
No, [the easter egg's] got to be very specific because you can’t…if it was all of a sudden Tony opens a tool box and there’s a friggin’ hammer in there, you can’t bone the next guy. You know it’s not like…you want to create possibilities. So that’s a very thought out piece. If the shield all of a sudden just falls out of the sky, whatever it is, whatever that thing is, you want to be very specific about it.
Images from the easter egg have now leaked. If you want to be surprised, do not hit the jump. This is going to ruin the easter egg and part of the enjoyment of seeing it in the theater. That being said, we know a lot of people want to see them now so we’re giving you the choice. To see the leaked images and how they correspond to an earlier statement by Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige, hit the jump:
Comic geeks will instantly recognize one of the images as Thor’s hammer, Mjolner. It also appears that Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) is possibly talking to someone on the phone about said hammer (which may have something to do with that gigantic smoldering crater over Coulson’s shoulder). So it looks like it was Thor’s hammer and not Captain America’s shield that fell from the sky.
These images also relate back to what Feige said to us about how The Incredible Hulk happens around the same time as Iron Man 2. Since we now see the hammer lying in the desert, we know that Thor happens within the same time frame as both Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk. As Feige said, “just because it’s 4-5 years between movies doesn’t mean it’s 4-5 years in movie time.”
Thor hits theaters on May 6, 2011.

I think me and Easter eggs have a Love/Hate relationship. I can't wait to see them, but when i do I get angry because i have to wait even more. This is the exact reason I watch 24 by the season. when TV Shows and Movies “Leave me hanging” its like waiting for Christmas every week. Kinda sux.
But regardless of the Reviews for this movie my $10 is already invested. Might as well watch the Egg, because i like Spoilers too.

I am not a die-hard marvel fan, so for many reasons the ultimate take on Thor appeals to me more as a character. I could believe a guy like the Ultimate Thor running around then some massive brute in Norse gear. I love ultimate Thor's hammer a hell of a lot more as well.

Stupid… so stupid Avengers is gonna be a EPIC FAIL, you know you want it, so most of you might say to me “are you crazy”? but the idea is totally stupid, and please DC, don't take this route with your heroes. The dark, grittie and realistic Batman, cannot be put on screen with aliens with blue outfits and red capes…. it would ruin the reality of it.
Nolan knows this stuff, that's why on HIS Batman world, there are no superheroes. He said it himself, and he certainly knows his stuff.
on the other hand, the solo Thor film, I'm sure is gonna be great. Everything is shaping for something good, but captain America is going to be another fail, poor choice of director, poorer choice of main lead… and the whole Avengers subplot, really damaged Iron Man 2 from being superior to the first one

What? You mean a man running around earth thinking he is a Norse God, being jailed as looney (see IM2 screencap), only to find out he really is the God of Thunder..but Loki was manipulating things behind the scenes…which brings the Avengers together.
Sorry isnt that The Ultimate universe storyline more or less with regards to Thor?
You need to remember they take a little bit of this and a little bit of that (Both Universes) to make their story.

Meh DC can and will do it also. Nolan does not “own” Batman. He can say whatever he wants about the films he is doing but guess who has final approval? As for Bats and Aliens, it can be done finally showing people that Batman while dark and gritty can be very militaristic, sneaky and conniving in his methodology in taking out a foe that may be greater in numbers or overall strength then he.

You do know, Thor in Ultimates is a God as well. It is proved in Ultimates 3 that the belt isn't what gives him power. He is indeed a Norse God. To say you like the character more cause of the gear is…forgive me…stupid.
The characterizations in Mainstream Marvel 616 is far superior to Ultimates, Ultimates fails..just read Ultimatum and you'll see what I mean

No , I really don't. I am not an avid reader of comics. only reason I know the 616 even exists is because of Wikipedia. I was really only introduced to Marvel Comics( buying and such) with the Ultimate line. I admit I am more into tech than fantasy. But they way Thor was introduced and his more modern mind-set and seemingly being an eco-terrorist seemed like a cool concept. Not just his look. Same reason I may like Stephen King but Duma Key is one of my fave books because I could relate to the characters more because of there contemporary setting. I only got up to Ultimates 2 so I didn't know about this revelation of which you typed in Ultimates 3. Nothing stupid aboput it. Just a matter of opinion my good man…
