IRON MAN 2 Writer Justin Theroux Tapped To Direct Universal’s CHIEF RON

     June 10, 2009

headline-1.jpgJustin Theroux – actor/writer/producer, is adding another hyphen to his resume – that of big time director.  According to Variety, Universal and Imagine Entertainment have tapped the “Tropic Thunder” and “Iron Man 2″ scribe to direct their new comedy, “Chief Ron”.  The movie, about a man who claims Indian ancestry in order to open his own casino, was inspired by the life of one ‘Chief’ Ron Roberts.  The blue-eyed Roberts prevailed in court against the suspicious Mohegan Nation and is now in the process of bringing the wonders of gambling to upstate New York.  “Chief Ron”, the movie, will actually be Theroux’s second time in the director’s chair.  In 2007 his romantic comedy “Dedication” played at Sundance before being picked up by The Weinstein Company – but because I never got to see that movie I’m thinking it doesn’t really count.
