Downey down! Robert Downey Jr. injured his ankle while shooting Iron Man 3, necessitating a delay in production. Marvel released this statement:
“Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates.”
Thankfully, “short” does not imply a serious injury, and Downey should be back in action in plenty of time to make the May 3, 2013 release of Iron Man 3. Ben Kingsley, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Rebecca Hall, Ashley Hamilton, and Guy Pearce also star in the superhero sequel directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang).
