Watch a Sneak Peek of the IRON MAN 3 Trailer; Plus New Images of Robert Downey Jr., the Mark XLVII Armor and the Mandarin [UPDATED]

     October 21, 2012

Last week, an arc reactor popped up on the official Facebook page for Iron Man 3 that promised to unveil a sneak preview of the film’s official trailer once the page hit enough “likes.”  It appears that the threshold has been cleared, as a very brief teaser for the trailer has now been unveiled.  We get flashes of Tony talking to the press, the Mark XLVII armor in action, Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts in a precarious position, and even a tease of Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin.  Again, it’s very brief, but fans clamoring for even the tiniest of looks at the first film in Marvel’s Phase Two slate should be sufficiently enticed by this teaser.

Hit the jump to watch the sneak peek, and be sure to check back here on Collider this Tuesday at 12:01am to watch the first full trailer for the film.  Directed by Shane Black, pic also stars Robert Downey Jr., Don CheadleRebecca HallJames Badge DaleJon Favreau, and Guy Pearce.  Iron Man 3 opens in 3D on May 3rd, 2013. [Update: More footage from the trailer has been released.  Check it out after the jump.]

In addition, we just posted the first teaser poster for Iron Man 3, and here’s a bunch of new images including the first look at Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin.

iron-man-3-movie-image-set-photoHere’s the official synopsis for Iron Man 3:

Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of Tales of Suspense (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with The Invincible Iron Man (#1) in May of 1968.

Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing and Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee and Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film releases May 3, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
