Is it TRON or TR2N?

Let me catch you up quick.

Walt Disney is currently working on the sequel to “Tron” as we speak. In fact, the production is up in Vancouver right now filming some real world stuff and I’d imagine they’ll be working on green screen sound stages really soon.

While cyberspace is beyond excited to revisit the amazing world of the Master Control Program and all that goes with it….we’re all confused by one thing – what the hell is the movie called!

Awhile ago everyone thought it was “Tr2n”.

Then, at this year’s ShoWest, when Disney listed all their future projects, they listed the sequel to “Tron” as exactly that. Just “Tron”.

Cut to today.

Just an hour ago I was at Disney Studios in Burbank as a reporter for our partner website Omelete. I was there to see some early footage for “G-Force”.

It ended up that the footage was being shown at an upstairs screening room and as we walked to the theater, I noticed a sign right outside the screening room, on a wall very close by.

The sign said “Tr2n” Production.

So….we are once again back to square one.

Personally, I think they have to change the name for the sequel. There is no way to call it “Tron” and have it make any sense. While I didn’t like the name “Tr2n” at first, it is starting to grow on me.

Anyway, I just placed a call to a contact at Disney to try and figure out what’s really going on. It could be the Studio still hasn’t decided on a name….or it could be that “Tr2n” is it. If I hear any info at all….I will absolutely update this story.

And I’ve joined the ever growing world of Twitter….
