IT Chapter 2 is just six months away, but the highly-anticipated horror sequel remains quite the mystery. Sure, the home run adult casting gave fans plenty of relief, and there were some tantalizing set photos during filming, but with nothing more than a title-only teaser poster on the books, we’ll take just about any update we can get at this point.
Enter Jessica Chastain, the long fan-cast top choice to play adult Beverly Marsh, who brought internet dreams to life when she signed on to reunite with Mama filmmakers Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti on the film. The actress stopped by The Tonight Show and told Jimmy Fallon a juicy little detail about what’s in store. In short, it’s gonna be bloody.
“I’m going to say something, and I think I’m going to be in trouble, but I’m going to do it,” Chastain said with a mischevious laugh. “It might be a spoiler. But in the movie, there’s a scene that someone said on set that it’s the most blood that’s ever been in a horror film in a scene. And I’ll tell you, the next day I was like pulling blood out of my eyeballs. Fake blood!”
That’s some pretty stiff competition — even with its predecessor. If you recall, the young version of Chastain’s character (played by Sophia Lillis Muschietti’s Instagram) wound up with a face (and bathroom) full of blood when she investigated some voices coming out of her sink drain. But from the looks of, the sequel is definitely poised to deliver some gory bits.
Alongside the original cast of IT, including Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise (of course) and the young Losers (who return for flashbacks), IT Chapter 2‘s cast includes James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough, Bill Hader as Richie Tozier, Jay Ryan as Ben Hanscom, James Ransone as Eddie Kaspbrak, Andy Bean as Stan Uris, and Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon.
We’ll see just how bloody things get when IT Chapter 2 arrives in theaters on September 6th. You can watch what Chastain said in the video below (jump to 2:15 for the IT talk.)
