More vampire news today, and this item has a much larger audience than the story on the Blood Nation comic adaptation, as it comes directly from Forks, WA.  We reported earlier in the month that Oscar-winning  writer/director director Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) was the frontrunner to direct the final chapter of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, and Summit just made it official with a press release.  Condon, a great get for the franchise, remarked, “I’m very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen.  As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book–and we’re hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience.”

Check out the full press release and details on Condon’s participation after the jump.

“One-of-a-kind” is a mild way to put it, as we’ve commented on the overall craziness of the story associated with the “half-vampire baby” plotline.  All the better, then, that Summit was lofty in their directorial desires; Condon is as capable as any man of reining in said insanity to deliver an entertaining entry to the franchise.  Surely, this production will get in the way of other Condon projects in development, including a Richard Pryor biopic starring Marlon Wayans and the HBO blogger comedy Tilda, right?  Regardless, Condon’s name is destined for plenty of Collider headlines over the coming months.

Although such information is conspicuously absent from the press release,  we heard Breaking Dawn will require two films, so don’t expect pop culture dominance of the teen vampire franchise to end anytime soon.
