With production now firmly underway, Paramount Pictures has released the first image of Chris Pine as a young Jack Ryan in director Kenneth Branagh’s aptly named Jack Ryan. The film reboots the famous Tom Clancy character that has previously been portrayed onscreen by Alec Baldwin (The Hunt for Red October), Harrison Ford (Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger), and Ben Affleck (The Sum of All Fears). This prequel finds Pine’s ex-Marine Jack Ryan working as a Moscow-based financial analyst who uncovers a plot by his employer to finance a terrorist attack designed to collapse the U.S. economy. Branagh also plays the film’s villain, Keira Knightley is onboard as the female lead, and Kevin Costner recently signed on to play a CIA liason.
In this first image we see the shocking revelation that, in his younger days, Jack Ryan enjoyed riding motorcycles. Hit the jump to take a look. Jack Ryan opens on Christmas Day, 2013.

So the criteria to rebooting a franchise character at Paramount is to feature Chris Pine on a motorcycle. Star Trek, Jack Ryan….
Milquetoast actor for a milquetoast franchise.
I bet he’s a rebel too…. Super bright, but has lost his way until Harrison ford encourages him to join Starfleet…Er…wait…what?
XD made my day!
Well, as for me I’m absolutely excited about “young Jack Ryan”!
WOW CHRIS PINE!!!
What annoys me is that Sum of All Fears was actually a fantastic film and Affleck nailed the part. Just a pity they couldn’t stick with him. Chris Pine’s… okay, I guess. Has presence.
Chris Pine is overrated… A shame Paramount will stick with him. He spoiled TREK for me, and now the second franchise.
Nothing will ever come close to “Red October” and “Clear and Present Danger”.
I have read a few excellent stuff here. Definitely price bookmarking for revisiting. I wonder how so much attempt you place to make one of these wonderful informative site.
