Paramount has released a new trailer for the action-thriller Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.  Based on the Tom Clancy character, the film stars Chris Pine as the titular Ryan, a Moscow-based financial analyst who faces off against his employer when he discovers a plot to finance a terrorist attack designed to collapse the U.S. economy.  This international trailer contains some new footage, but so far, what I’m seeing from this movie isn’t doing anything for me.  Perhaps it’s because I’ve never found Jack Ryan to be a particularly interesting character, but even the action on display doesn’t really grab me.  Hopefully, it’s just the way the trailer is cut together and the final product will be more exhilarating.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film also stars Keira Knightley, Kenneth Branagh, and Kevin CostnerJack Ryan: Shadow Recruit opens December 25th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit:

Based on the character created by bestselling author Tom Clancy, “Jack Ryan” is a global action thriller set in the present day.  This original story follow a young Jack (Chris Pine) as he uncovers a financial terrorist plot.

The story follows him from 9/11, through his tour of duty in Afghanistan, which scarred him forever, and into his early days in the Financial Intelligence Unit of the modern CIA where he becomes an analyst, under the guardianship of his handler, Harper (Kevin Costner).  When Ryan believes he’s uncovered a Russian plot to collapse the United States economy, he goes from being an analyst to becoming a spy and must fight to save his own life and those of countless others, while also trying to protect the thing that’s more important to him than anything, his relationship with his fiancée Cathy (Keira Knightley).

It’s not grabbing you because you hate everything or at least that’s the way you come off in your reviews. I’d swear I wouldn’t be surprised if you said a rainbow didn’t have enough color or unicorns were just boring horses with a spike in their head.

he actually likes a lot of movies, you just don´t read those reviews because they aren´t childish hollywood blockbusters for teenagers, but actual movies that even grown ups can watch without feeling embarrassed – this is a site for movies and people who are interested in movies and not some studio channel by the way.there are about a billion pages for your stuff so what are you doing here?i´m really sick of offended fanboys that are not even out of school, if your only interest is comics, that´s okay, read comics and stay out of here.

Looks okay. I’d watch this. I like Pine, Branagh, and Costner.

looks pretty cool in my opinion. good cast and crew, and i’m actually digging the fact that the arent showing all the action. far too much of that in trailers these days. I have a feeling there will be at least one or two crazy sequences in here, but most of the focus will be on espionage and character drama, which is perfectly fine with me

You really think there’s a moneyshot in the film and they’re choosing not to put it in the trailer? If it’s not in the trailer, it’s not in the film.

Damn, Keira Knightley’s accent is incredible. She should teach Emma Watson a thing or two.

other than Kevin Costner shooting at ‘somebody,’ not a single moment in this trailer raised my eyebrows

Chris Pine still looks like a wuss.

I saw the trailer the other day. Same old cliched dialogue as every other fucking espionage movie coming out of Hollywood. When I saw Costner sitting on a bench(the bench is the best place to tell someone some secret shit, right) and Pine showing up, duh, to get that intel I knew enough already to figure that bullshit out.
