Chris Pine Takes a Knee in First Poster for JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT

     October 2, 2013

Somewhat crassly given author Tom Clancy’s passing earlier today, Paramount Pictures has decided to unveil the first poster for director Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming thriller Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.  The film stars Chris Pine as the classic Clancy character that was previously portrayed onscreen by Alec Baldwin (The Hunt for Red October), Harrison Ford (Patriot GamesClear and Present Danger), and Ben Affleck(The Sum of All Fears).  This time around, Ryan is a Moscow-based financial analyst who faces off against his employer when he discovers a plot to finance a terrorist attack designed to collapse the U.S. economy.  There has been word that Paramount might be considering moving Jack Ryan to next year and giving The Wolf of Wall Street its current December 25th release date, and fittingly this poster simply says “Coming Soon.”

Hit the jump to check out the poster and stay tuned for the debut trailer, which should be heading our way soon.  The film also stars Branagh, Keira Knightley, Peter Andersson, and Kevin CostnerJack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is currently set to open in theaters on Christmas Day.

    Rest in Peace, Mr. Clancy.

lol, I’m sure these things are planned in advance, but it’s a little suspicious all things considered.

Not suspicious at all, it’s actually just how it seems. Paramount taking advantage of the publicity over Tom Clancy’s death. Sad, but true.

  • Lance

Yeah, Paramount should have postponed the release of the poster, at least by a day or two.

Alec Baldwin to Chris Pine, quite a fall. I admit he’d make a believable president given Obama.

Was starting to wonder if/when we’d ever see anything from this movie. Not a huge fan of the title but I like the cast and most of the previous Jack Ryan movies, so here’s hoping.

    RIP Clancy.

Oddly the poster fits Clancy passing

Dafuq? This says Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. We were told that it was called Jack Ryan: Shadow One! Anyways, this looks brilliant, somewhat sad (Rest in Peace, Clancy. Now we live in a world where Clive Cussler rules thrillers by length, and John le Carre is still king of spies by brilliance).

Really looking forward to this. Branagh is a fantastic director.

Takes a knee? You mean sits down? I see no knee being taken.
