The most recent news to come out of the Jack the Giant Slayer camp was a title change from the murderous-sounding Jack the Giant Killer to the…slightly less-murderous Jack the Giant Slayer. Now, we have the first look at said giant and a new look at Nicholas Hoult as Jack. Both images come courtesy of director Bryan Singer and are fresh from the editing bay.
Also starring Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane and Eleanor Tomlinson, Jack the Giant Slayer opens March 1, 2013. Hit the jump to check out the new images.

Here’s the plot synopsis for Jack the Giant Slayer:
“Jack the Giant Slayer” tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack, into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend—and gets the chance to become a legend himself.

This will tank. Hard.
That synopsis doesn’t excite me, but then I like Bryan Singer so I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt for now. Maybe it’ll turn out alright, but these “re-imagined fairytale” movies usually suck.
That’s a sound suite, not an editing bay.
The giant has a great Afro.
Oh, good, and here I was worried that the Giant would look like a massive train wreck who looks awful…
Sometimes you just need to see one image to know a movie is going to bomb.
no offense, but why the hell would releasing this picture excite ANYONE?? I don’t care if you’re a bryan singer fan, jack the giant killer/beanstalk fan, or just fans of GIANTS in general!! This image has so much UGLY FAIL on it, it’s not even funny.
I know the Giant is no Edward Cullen (bad joke..i know) but why the hell make him look as unappealing and uninteresting as possible?? Either make him look badass, scary looking or somewhat memorable. the whole time he’s on screen, people are just gonna wanna look away. and that’s not a good thing.
