After appearing in brief but memorable roles in a number of swell films as of late, including Iron Man 3, Flight, and World War Z, James Badge Dale has become the latest actor to sign on to The Grey director Joe Carnahan’s low-budget action-comedy Stretch.  The film stars Patrick Wilson as a down-on-his-luck chauffeur looking to relieve his debt by driving around a mysterious billionaire who drags him to hell and back.  Chris Pine, Brooklyn Decker, and Ed Helms are also poised to appear, and Carnahan broke the news of Dale’s casting on Twitter by saying, “James Badge Dale, my boy AND one of the best actors walking the planet, has joined the cast of STRETCH.”  The two previously worked together on Carnahan’s terrific existential survival drama The Grey.

Just when you thought director Bryan Singer couldn’t possibly fit any more actors into his X-Men: Days of Future Past cast, The Wrap reports that Australian actor Josh Helman has signed on for a mysterious role.  The nature of Helman’s character is being kept under wraps, but he’s expected to be on set for several weeks so it’s not an unsubstantial part.  The 25-year-old Helman has been landing some significant roles as of late, as he had a small turn in last year’s Jack Reacher and also stars in George Miller’s highly-anticipated Mad Max: Fury Road.  He previously appeared on the HBO miniseries The Pacific and had a role in 2010’s Animal Kingdom.

Singer's full cast list for X-Men: Days of Future Past now includes (deep breath) James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart Peter Dinklage, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Omar SyDaniel Cudmore, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters, and Halle Berry.  The film opens in 3D on May 23, 2014.
