Due to MGM’s financial meltdown, there was a four year wait since the last James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. The franchise’s producers aren’t going to let that happen again, especially since the new entry, Skyfall, is garnering ridiculously positive buzz. It also looks like they’re sticking to one of that film’s successful contributors. According to the Daily Mail, Oscar-nominated screenwriter John Logan (Gladiator) will return to write the next movie. The key difference is that Logan will write the script solo. The past five movies—Skyfall, Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale, Die Another Day, The World Is Not Enough—were partially written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, but Logan was called in to re-write Skyfall. If Logan has helped to deliver what some are calling one of the series’ best films, then I’m glad to see that he’ll be back to write the next movie.
As for when we’ll see that movie, producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are hoping to shoot at Pinewood Studios (and I’m sure at various exotic locales) next year for a fall 2014 release, which confirms a report from earlier this year. Considering that the every Bond film since The World Is Not Enough has opened in November, I would expect to see Bond 24 land in November 2014. Deadline reports that Logan’s pitch to Broccoli and Wilson was for a two-movie arc and that Logan has reportedly already started writing the scripts. If this were to work out, it means Bond’s 24th and 25th installments would mark the first time in the series that a story has been told over multiple features. The Bond films may also fall into line with the vogue of shooting films back-to-back, but it’s too early to do anything other than speculate. Skyfall kicks off its international debut starting today, with a U.S. launch date of November 9th.

If all’s well I hope Bond films have a steady rate of 1 film per 2 years like before.
Be careful– Remeber another Franchise Called Star Trek TNG and a movie Logan wrote called Nemesis thet killed the Next Generation franachise.

first time story has been told over multiple movies? i would argue that quantum of solace helped wrap up viper’s story from casino royale, albeit in a much less interesting fashion, but a continuation nonetheless.
I hope they can get Christopher Nolan to do a bond movie.

now Neil Purvis and Robert Wade has to come up with a good script from now on. they can no longer rely on a Paul Haggis or John Logan to rewrite their drafts.
the bond producers has finally realized that they should hire REAL talent!
It seems for every good Bond movie, there’s gotta be some awful ones.
Think of every Brosnan movie besides Goldeeye. Or most Roger Moore ones. Even Quantum was bad. But then, every once in a while, we get a Goldeneye, Casino Royale and now, it seems, Skyfall.
All the Bond films were great except for A View To A Kill. Roger Moore was tired and the movie was tired. All the others are still the best.
