Production Weekly is reporting that James Franco will star as mountaineer Aron Ralston in Danny Boyle’s next film, 127 Hours. For those who don’t know, Ralston became one of the biggest bad-asses of all-time when he amputated his own lower arm with a dull knife in order to free himself after he was trapped by a boulder. Oh, and then he had to make his way back down the mountain without dying from blood loss or dehydration. Any film should be lucky to have Franco as its lead, but he may have to step up like he never has before if Boyle sticks to his plan to shoot the entire first hour of the film without dialogue.
PW also reported that filming is set to begin in March. This would line up with Variety’s initial report that they were aiming to release the film late this year.
