Will Jamie Bell (Defiance) play everyone’s favorite web-slinger in Marc Webb’s upcoming Spider-Man reboot? The folks over at Bleeding Cool say, “Yes.” According to the website, they have received “repeated reports” in the last 24 hours that Sony has cast the award-winning actor to play Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Bell was one of the five actors rumored to be the short list to play the part.
While I would prefer that Donald Glover get the part, Bell is still a great choice. He was the one good thing in Jumper, he’s got the acting chops, and if he’s kept his Eagle of the Ninth physique, then he’s already got a head-start on making sure Peter Parker is the beneficiary of the spider-bite workout plan. If Bell got the gig, it would be his second major franchise. He’s playing Tintin in Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s The Adventures of Tintin series.

Excellent choice. Hope he gets it. Makes me interested in seeing the movie now.
i want Donald Glover!!!! they didn't even let him audition which is bullshit!!
Not a bad choice at all, out of the people being considered he was definitely the best choice. Still I would have preferred to see Logan Lerman or Donald Glover get the part, but this is far from a bad thing.
So we get to see the origin story…AGAIN…*Yawns*
Get off the Donald Glover thing will you!!!!
NO, Mr. bell is too British. We need an American young star, like Logan Lerman or Josh Hutcherson as perfect candidates
great choice, he is a great actor and i would have chose him if it were my choice! i wonder how they will reboot it without it being too similar to the original though? (with him getting his powers and learning this)
They should just cut to the action. No origin again, please!
He's the only choice that seemed right to me.
Donald GLover would have been interesting though.
This reboot SUCKS ASS. Jamie Bell isn't even American. I wish they would get Logan Lerman or Jo Levitt back in the mix.
What's with the stropping about him being British? I don't see why that should have any bearing on his casting. Christian Bale and Aaron Johnson are both British and they were brilliant as Batman and Kick-Ass respectivly. Personally I think Bell is a really good fit. He doesn't look like he's 40 so is already a better fit than Tobey Maguire ever was (The guy looked like he was made out of leather in Spidey 2), he looks convincing as both a shy geek and someone who has abit of fire in his belly. As long as he can put an accent on properly I think he'd do an awesome job. Plus with it being abit more left field than some people put forward for it it makes me much more interested in seeing his performance and thus the entire film.
good choice. After seeing him for the first time in Jumper. I am excited to see him get bigger roles. great actor.
Maybe he could play him, I have only seen him in King Kong's remake and I thought it was a good movie. So yea he may.
