Casting Call: Jamie Foxx in HORRIBLE BOSSES; Vega, Dafoe, Isaac, and Rodriguez Join THE JESUIT; McGregor, Blunt, and Thomas Go SALMON FISHING IN YEMEN

We have three pieces of casting news for you (and likely more on the way because of the deals being made at the Cannes Film Festival right now).  Leading off, Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt, and Kristen Scott Thomas will star in Lasse Hallstrom’s Salmon Fishing in Yemen, written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire).  Since THR doesn’t say what the movie’s about, I’ll move on to the casting on films where we can give you something more substantial.

First up, Jamie Foxx has signed on to Seth Gordon’s dark comedy Horrible Bosses.  Also, Paz Vega will star in Paul Schrader’s The Jesuit with Willem Dafoe, Oscar Isaac, and Michelle Rodriguez in final negotiations to join.  For more on both of these projects, hit the jump.

According to Just Jared, Jamie Foxx will co-star in the flick.  As we reported yesterday, Jason Bateman, Jennifer Aniston, and Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia).  Directed by Seth Gordon (The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters), three best friends who decide to kill each other’s bosses.  To elaborate, here’s what we said in our earlier story:

Jason Bateman will play a man who believes his hard work will be rewarded but when he gets passed over for a promotion, he hits rock bottom. Charlie Day plays a hapless guy, always in the wrong place at the wrong time. A part still to be cast is a ladies’ man who is good at his job, but gets a rude awakening when his boss passes away and gets replaced.

As we reported earlier in the week, Colin Farrell is also on board to co-star as one of the sleazy bosses.  But you have to love a comedy that sounds like it’s based off Strangers on a Train.  The cast is shaping up to be pretty great and Steve says he’s heard good things about the script, so this is definitely one to keep on your radar.

Then there’s The Jesuit.  Variety reports that the film centers on “a man nicknamed “the Jesuit,” who is imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. When his wife is murdered and his son kidnapped and taken to Mexico, he devises an elaborate and dangerous plan to rescue his son and avenge the murder.”  Paz Vega (The Spirit) is officially on board and Willem Dafoe, Michelle Rodriguez, and Oscar Isaac (who is one of the few bright spots in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood) are in final negotiations to co-star.  This would be the sixth time Dafoe happened in a Paul Schrader film (seventh if you count The Last Temptation of Christ, which Schrader wrote but didn’t direct).
