It's been a long road for Jane Got a Gun, Natalie Portman's passion project which centers on a female gunslinger in the Old West who reconnects with an old flame in the hopes of outpacing and killing the men who kidnapped and abused her. The problems began in scripting and pre-production and crested with the exit of director Lynne Ramsey and co-star Jude Law, but then the film was picked up by Gavin O'Connor, the talented filmmaker behind Miracle and Warrior, to say nothing of the pilot of The Americans. And now we have a much better, longer look at the film with a new trailer, which you can peep below, that stresses more of the plot turns of the narrative.

In this latest trailer, we now have a clearer sense of Portman's titular character's relationship with both the villain, Colin McCann (Ewan McGregor) and Jane's right-hand man, Dan Frost (Joel Edgerton). There's also more footage of co-stars Noah Emmerich and Rodrigo Santoro, though there's not much to be seen of Boyd Holbrook as of yet. Regardless, the film itself looks strong, if not particularly remarkable, like most of O'Connor's films, though it's noteworthy for a modern Western to be released by a major distributor and not have Quentin Tarantino's name attached to it.

With the vengeful crew hot on Ham’s trail, Jane has nowhere to turn but to her former fiancé Dan Frost (Joel Edgerton) for help in defending her family against certain destruction. Haunted by old memories, Jane’s past meets the present in a heart-stopping battle for survival.
