Well that was fast. Just yesterday we reported that Shiloh Fernandez had landed the male lead in Fede Alvarez’s The Evil Dead remake, and now Alvarez and Co. have found their female lead. Lily Collins was set to star in the horror update but was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts, and now Deadline reports that Jane Levy has been set as her replacement. Levy will star as the film’s lead, Mia, a young girl recovering from a recent overdose and “one of five young people who head to the remote cabin where evil awaits.”While I didn’t have strong feelings about Collins’ casting one way or the other, I’m quite happy with Levy. She currently stars in ABC’s promising comedy Suburgatory and packs a great deal of charm and wit. The female lead in Evil Dead was sought after by a number of young actresses, so this is a major get for Levy. She also stars in The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz’s feature debut comedy Fun Size. The Evil Dead is set for release on April 12th, 2013.
