If it were possible, people may start to get sick of Jason Bateman. Fortunately for Bateman and for us, he's just too great so the fact that he's just signed on for another film even though he has three films on the way and three more films in development. Variety is reporting that Bateman, who is clearly afraid of down-time, has signed on to reunite with "Juno" director Jason Reitman for "Up In the Air" starring George Clooney. Clooney plays a a corporate downsizer who is obsessed with collecting frequent flyer miles at the expense of having a life. Bateman will play his boss. What does the boss of a corporate downsizer do? And how did they earn that position? Can they make someone lose their job with their thoughts? Can they summon pink slips through the ether? I have no idea how corporate America works. I know they have causal Fridays which means you don't have to wear a tie to work. Huzzah. But Bateman is staying busy. After completing "Up In the Air", he'll move right on to "Baster" co-starring Jennifer Anniston and with a plot that sounds so creepy not even Bateman may be able to save it. He's also working with Joe Carnahan on developing a comedy called "Remarkable Fellows". Oh and there's this other movie…um, "Arrested Development", I believe it's called. Apparently it's based off some cancelled TV show Bateman was in. Who would want to see that? As for the rest of this year, be on the look out for Bateman in "State of Play", Mike Judge's "Extract", and starring alongside Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Kristin Bell, and Malin Akerman. Oh, and he's also in Ricky Gervais' "This Side of the Truth" (I really don't want to call it by what imdb now has as the title, "Invention of Lying") but who knows when we'll finally get to see that slice of terrific.
