Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the glorious filmmakers behind such eloquent fare as Date Movie, Meet the Spartans, and Vampires Suck, have set their sights on The Hunger Games for their next opus.  Variety reports that Friedberg and Seltzer will write and direct The Starving Games, a “comedy” spoof that will derive its plot from The Hunger Games because it’s a lazy genius idea.  Apparently the film will also spoof The Avengers, Sherlock Holmes, and the final Harry Potter film as well, given that those movies made a lot of money and stupid people will see an Avengers reference and go “I recognize that as something that I’m aware of! Funny!”

There’s a difference between lowbrow humor aimed at kids (The Smurfs) and just plain lazy comedy.  Friedberg and Seltzer’s movies literally reenact entire scenes from popular blockbusters, switch it up by making someone fall down/fart in said scenes, and call it a day.  That’s piggybacking, not talent, and this is why their movies are terrible.

Do people actually pay to watch these shit movies?

  • Ben

    This shouldn’t be allowed.

I know ONE person who has seen ANY of their recent movies. ONE! Who is still giving them money to make this trash?

  • Yahzee

… trash like this should be outlawed. Why don’t just ignore and save yourselves, and us, from having to cover such horrendous “films”?

  • Nate

How do these guys still get money to make films!? I’m not trying to be a film snob, but c’mon! I have nothing against the spoofe genre, but let’s at least find someone who can do them with a bit of justice!

    • Armand

There is someone who does spoofs right, EDGAR WRIGHT!!! These two are irrelevant cause of him, but some how vampires suck made more money than scott pilgrim, I WAS SO PISSED!!!

    The Starving Games how hilarious…..NOT.

  • Carlos

Somebody needs to kill these two already, that’s the only way they’ll stop.

    The directors of Vampires Suck S U C K.
These guys should be forced to eat a big bowl of steaming crap everytime they make a new movie, that way theyll think twice about making another one.

Thank you, everyone! For years, I thought I was the LONE voice out there, being appalled by these attempts at so-called “humor.” I am flabbergasted to know that someone in Hollyweird is giving these guys actual money to do this! Seriously? I know people say this kind of thing all the time, but: give me HALF the budget, and I will make a decent entertainment!

if their movies are lazy and terrible, why even give them a spot on Collider’s top news… I’m not being a jerk, I’m seriously curious. I feel like they shouldn’t even be acknowledged by the Collider team.

    • Marlboroliteman

You’re right no media outlet should acknowledge these guys, they’re talentless and painfully unfunny. I said it once and I’ll say it again they should be made to eat a big pile of freshly produced steaming pile of dog shit before starting production on they’re next waste of film movie.

Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer should not have the word glorious anywhere near their names unless it’s a sentence that goes something like this….
Watching Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer eat a fresh bowl of dog crap was glorious to behold.

Say what you want, but I think they’re hilarious.
They make fun of stupid things that are popular that are in all actuality terrible. That’s the point.
    It’s supposed to be stupid.
