After a long (and pretty spectacular) marketing campaign that saw the loveable characters take on everything from Twilight to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Disney’s The Muppets is finally hitting theaters next week. However, it was an even longer road for the actual production of the film to come to fruition. A self-professed Muppet fanatic, Jason Segel was hired to co-write the script with Nicholas Stoller fresh off their success on Forgetting Sarah Marshall. When it came to casting the film, they had their sights set on Amy Adams. However, with the Muppets at their disposal, Segel and Co. asked Adams to be a part of the movie in a delightfully unconventional way.
Hit the jump to check out the video that Segel sent to Adams asking her to join the cast. The film also stars Rashida Jones and Chris Cooper. The Muppets opens November 23rd.
