Could Jason Statham Join the FAST AND FURIOUS Cast to Shoot FAST 6 and FAST 7 Back to Back in Europe?

Please read this article with a grain of salt.  The concentration of cool is so high, though, that it’s worth reporting in case it turns out.  We know the next film in the Fast and Furious series (let’s call it Fast 6) will be director Justin Lin’s next project, and he’s already made headway with a pre-vised 12-minute final sequence.  Universal must like what they see, because the studio is reportedly ready to double down on their most reliable franchise.  Twitch hears Universal is looking into shooting Fast 6 and Fast 7 back to back in Europe in 2012.  Cool news in itself, but there’s more.  After the jump.

Fast_Five_movie_posterWhen the series ventured to Rio for Fast Five, action superstar Dwayne Johnson came aboard.  If the pattern holds for the hypothetically European sequel(s), one name comes to mind: Jason Statham.  Twitch says Universal is in preliminary talks with Statham to join one or both sequels.  Sounds like a terrific idea to this writer, though Statham’s involvement is, of course,  “far from a sure thing.”

Still, this is a lot to chew on for now.  We’ll stay on top of development—in the meantime, please tentatively dream of Statham, Johnson, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker (I guess), and the rest of the gang speeding through the streets of London*.  Hit the jump for the quote from Lin as he looks forward to more Fast.

From this article:

“My whole thing is about respecting the audience and respecting the evolution of these characters—and they’ve grown and now the family is back together. And in many ways, some of the big pieces of Fast Six have already been discussed: I already have a 12-minute sequence done. I did it just as an exercise. I had it done before we were finished with Fast Five, actually. So I wanted to do that just to have it there and to be honest with you, I didn’t know if I was going to do a Fast Six. I didn’t know if people were going to embrace Fast Five and we were going to have an opportunity. But I felt like I really wanted to make sure that the last scene, which I had talked to Vin about countless times—I wanted to make sure that was done. So actually I boarded it, I pre-vised it, and I cut it. So it’s funny, when we were in Atlanta shooting it, I already had the end sequence to Fast Six done. And that was what I wanted to work towards.”

Fast Six is scheduled for release on May 24, 2013.

If they do get Statham that could be cool. If its for two films have him be a good guy in #6 and the villain of #7

Yeah Statham plays a good villain too. This is so awesome if it’s true, remember they did get Dwayne Johnson, so it’s not so farfetched.

    Wohooo!! Freakin’ fantastic, can’t wait!

Oh, God, the only thing that’s going through my head to describe Fast Five, it’s like sex with an orgasm at the end of it! Whereas the first four movies were like you have sex but you never get the orgasm. A lot of stopping and starting but… oh, I wish I hadn’t said that.

“Fast Five” was a surprisingly good action film. I give Justin Lin all the credit for that though. Hopefully this next one will be just as good. Also very nice Stacey lol

They really need Clive Owen instead of Statham

Statham + fast cars is already a winning combination. If they get a cast this big together, and stick to the “heist” style, I hope they go into more details of the cars they’ll use, and why. Sort of like the Italian Job. The one thing I like about Gone in 60 Seconds was the attention to the cars themselves; it’d be nice for them to not just focus on the actors, but maybe also give a Shelby Cobra a little bit of spotlight.

It could be Fast and Furius 6: Death Race against the Transporter..

I think if Statham is cast in Fast and Furious 6 & 7 then those movies might make more money than Fast Five did.

My idea is that Statham is the bad guy and the rest of the cast will return for a six and seventh movie.

I love this idea! Now I would say Gerard Butler should be cast in both fast film but that wont work. I think if they could add Jeremy Renner to the mix it would be cool.

The next in stallment in The Fast and The Ferious Saga
Should be called The Ferious 6!

I absolutely fell in love with Fast Five and I knew they weren’t just going to end it like that and not make a 6th one. I can’t wait for it. Although I do not want to see Statham in this one. They need to put Mia and the baby in it and also Vince’s baby Nico. They need to put the kids in it. I think that would be interesting and if they actually make a 7th one also, they should have the kids all grown up and working for the family business in that one. Just sayin…

Justin Lin I honestly want more racing! Like seriously and if the movie be a bit more longer that be great! !!!
