Javier Bardem (Skyfall) has booked two feature roles. The first is writer-director J.C. Chandor’s A Most Violent Year. The film is expected to start shooting in Manhattan this fall. Bardem will also star in Pierre Morel’s film The Gunman, which already stars Sean Penn. The action thriller centers on a spy who must clear his name from his previous organization in order to save his own life. The Pete Travis screenplay previously went by the title of Prone Gunman. Hit the jump for more.
Few other details are available at this time, but Deadline reports that Bardem is set for both films.
Here’s a synopsis for Prone Gunman:
Martin Terrier is a hired killer who wants out of the game—so he can settle down and marry his childhood sweetheart. After all, that’s why he took up this profession! But the Organization won’t let him go: they have other plans. Once again, the gunman must assume the prone shooting position. A tour de force, this violent tale shatters as many illusions about life and politics as bodies. [Amazon]
