Today is April 14th, 2016 and it’s another Collider Jedi Council hosted by Kristian Harloff; with John Campea, Mark Ellis and Mark Reilly joining the council for the day.

The council moves right in to the big news that broke last night - the finalists up for the part of Young Han Solo in the Star Wars Story is apparently down to one person - Alden Ehrenreich! It appears the actor from Hail, Caesar! has been impressing the powers that be at Disney and Lucasfilm so much that they're looking away from Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor, and putting him at the top of the list.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Wins Big at the MTV Movie Awards

Next, the panel revisits the past weekend where the MTV Movie Awards were held and sure enough, TFA won big. Daisy Ridley, the movie and Adam Driver all took home awards because: Star Wars. The panel also spoke a bit about how good Daisy Ridley is at dodging questions about Episode VIII - or in this case - Rogue One. Ever polite and straight to the point, Ridley shot down the theory that Felicity Jones' character in Rogue One is Rey's mother. Look, the universe isn't THAT small. Talking about this theory led to other speculation about Rey's parents with Ridley saying to the reporter on the red carpet that she knows who Rey's parents are but it doesn't matter, she is letting her character look forward rather than the past in the new episode.

Next up, the Alamo Drafthouse announced that they will be bringing the original trilogy back to theatres for a limited run of all three movies, back to back to back! So for the kids out there that haven't ever seen the original movies on the big screen, now's your chance! The panel then shares their love and fondness of the movies, with many commenting on wanting to see it again on the big screen. There's nothing better than experiencing Star Wars in a communal experience, with the fans, as it should be experienced.

Darth Vader Rumored Casting

Lastly in the realm of big Star Wars News, a rumor came out of Flickering Myth about a casting report saying Spencer Wilding, who you might remember from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy as the blue skinned alien who took Star Lord's walkman. The report says that Spencer is the man behind the mask, essentially standing in for Darth Vader while James Earl Jones would provide the iconic voice. As for the panel, yeah, everyone wants to see what Vader is capable of in Rogue One.

What’s the Deal with Canon?

Here now is the segment called What’s the Deal with Canon – a discussion on everything in the world of canon that isn’t one of the movies be it Episodes or Star Wars’ Story.

This week was pretty light on canon with only a couple issues from Marvel's Star Wars line in the news. The most interesting one would be the C3PO comic that delves into why (and how) Threepio lost his arm, explaining why he had a red one in The Force Awakens. The second story is the last Vader comic that dropped. Kristian was the only one who read either and he wasn't too thrilled with them. The other story was an excerpt from the novel Aftermath: Life Debt; a sequel to Aftermath by Chuck Wendig. The book will be going into the "life debt" of Han and Chewie and what they do in the years following Return of the Jedi.
