Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens Jamie Chung Interview SUCKER PUNCH slice

With director Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch opening this weekend, I got to sit down with most of the cast to talk about the film.  As the synopsis says, Sucker Punch is an “epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary.” The film stars Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, Carla Gugino, Jon Hamm, Scott Glenn, and Oscar Isaac.

During my interview with Malone, Hudgens and Chung, we talked about how everyone bonded off set when they were filming in Vancouver, the training and lack of sweets and soda on set, deleted scenes, future projects like The Hangover 2, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and Jack and Diane, and we also talked about doing karaoke (they told a great story).  Hit the jump to watch and look for a new video interview for Sucker Punch everyday this week.

Finally, you can watch five clips from the film, my video interview with Emily Browning and Abbie Cornish, and here’s all our Sucker Punch coverage.

Haha that entire karaoke conversation was fun. The rapport between this cast is palpable, it’s great to see young women in Hollywood genuinely get along and enjoy their work together.

I remember Jena mentioning they’d steal sodas and junk food from the Fringe set during the EW: Women Who Kick Ass panel at Comic Con last year. That was a nice little tid-bit lol.

I will say it in every comment, still bummed about the musical numbers being removed. Can’t wait for the director’s cut Blu-ray. But damn man, really wish you had more time to talk! Sucks.

What, the were removed? Where’d you see this? This can’t be true!

      *Thematic Ending Spoiler*
I’m a little skeptical about this alternative ending too. I heard that the ending entails sadness. I hope this sticks true to the original and the alternative is a happy-esque ending. I can’t deal with the opposite being true! I need sadness!

  • matt

Did anyone else feel like when Jamie was talking about the alternate ending Jena and Vanessa were kind of like “oh s**t”? It looked like Jena tried to pull it off as a yawn but i don’t know, maybe Jamie said something she wasn’t supposed. Maybe i’m just looking to much into it?

    • Ryan

Yeah I saw that too! Jamie spilled the beans… Jena wasn’t very smooth about her reaction.
