The growing cast linked to Kathryn Bigelow‘s untitled thriller (formerly Kill Bin Laden) is essentially a list of our favorite character actors of the last few years: Joel Edgerton, Kyle Chandler, Jason Clarke, Chris Pratt, Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Edgar Ramirez. EW adds another pair of names in Jennifer Ehle and Nash Edgerton. Ehle has been on the rumored list for some time, but the report places her on the team that tracks down Osama Bin Laden. As you may have guessed, Nash Edgerton is Joel’s brother. He has done stunts for everything from the Star Wars prequels to last year’s Beginners (he and Ewan McGregor are twins from behind), but his role as a Navy SEAL in this project is part of a diverse filmmaking portfolio. Nash has written, directed, and starred in a number of shorts, plus the feature The Square.

Bigelow reunited with The Hurt Locker writer Mark Boal to tell the story of the hunt for Bin Laden. The script was already in development when the assassination occurred, but Bigelow and Boal quickly rewrote the ending in time to set up a December 19 release. In fact, Representative Peter T. King called for an investigation into the duo’s reported access to inside information about the mission. (The New York Times said in August, “The moviemakers are getting top-level access to the most classified mission in history from [this] administration.”)
This is an event that demanded the cinematic treatment sooner rather than later, so no matter the circumstances, I am happy the team behind The Hurt Locker are steering the ship. And I honestly can’t tell you what the final cast list will be, but it only needs a fraction of the bolded names above to draw me into the theater.
