Screenwriter/author Jerry Stahl (Bad Boys II) has been tapped to pen the screenplay for the remake of The Thin Man starring Johnny Depp. Rob Marshall (Chicago), who recently teamed with Depp on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, is in negotiations to direct the flick. The Thin Man centers on private detective-turned-socialite Nick Charles and his charming wife Nora as they’re drawn into investigating a murder. The 1934 film was itself adapted from the novel by Dashiell Hammett.Heat Vision reports that Depp will produce the film with his Infinitum Nihil partner Christi Dembrowski. Warner Bros. was taking their time in finding the right screenwriter who could contemporize the story without altering the period setting. Depp is currently getting ready to film Dark Shadows for director Tim Burton, and is also attached to The Lone Ranger with Rango director Gore Verbinski at the helm.
